Youth Industrial Strategy Competition

The Youth Industrial Strategy Competition was a national STEM initiative that inspired & challenged young people to overcome some of the biggest obstacles facing modern society.

Over 2,000 students between the ages of 11 and 19 participated in the Competition which saw their teams submitting projects that address one of the UK Government’s four Grand Challenges: Clean Growth, Artificial Intelligence and Data, Ageing Society and the Future of Mobility.

Participants could enter the Competition as a team or individually into one of three categories: Junior, Intermediate and Senior.

We found 15 finalists before narrowing it down to our three winners at the end of March. The category winners showcased incredible innovation to create projects that included hydroelectric plumbing, wearable air quality detectors and offline artificial intelligence.

The Competition was developed in partnership with Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy and was opened by Science Minister Chris Skidmore, who was speaking at the Industrial Strategy Science Fair hosted by the Royal Academy of Engineering.
