Professor Michael Reiss, MA PhD PGCE MBA FIBiol FRSA, is the BSA's Vice President for Education.

He is Professor of Science Education at the Institute of Education, University of London, Chief Executive of Science Learning Centre London, Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of York, Docent at the University of Helsinki, Director of the Salters-Nuffield Advanced Biology Project, a member of the Farm Animal Welfare Council and editor of the journal Sex Education.

Professor Reiss is interested in ways of improving understanding about science. Current research interests include policy work to increase the number of students choosing to study science and mathematics post-16, evaluations of projects designed to interests people in science, and how science teachers should deal with the rise of creationism.

He is a priest in the Church of England and Professor of Science Education. He has written about theological understandings of current developments in biology such as genetic modification, cloning and greatly extended human longevity.
