19 September 2025 – The British Science Association (BSA) is proud to announce the launch of its upgraded CREST website, a major step forward in empowering educators to bring science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to life for their students, and inspiring young people to explore and engage with the real-world of STEM.

CREST Awards is BSA’s flagship STEM education programme. It provides young people aged 3-19 inspiring and impactful projects in STEM that engage and reward them and unlock their potential and developing skills. Through hands-on and exciting projects, CREST sparks curiosity, builds confidence, connects students with STEM, and rewards their achievement.

The new CREST website has been designed to strengthen the impact of CREST Awards by making it easier for educators to access resources, guidance, and inspiration. By combining a modern, intuitive design with powerful functionality, the site is set to enhance the experience for both teachers and learners.

Key improvements include:

  • Improved user experience – A streamlined design and clear navigation ensure educators and young people find what they need more for doing STEM projects and activities.
  • Built-in CREST Resource Library – A fully searchable and filterable library filled with project ideas and activities, with resource covers and descriptions visible at a glance, giving teachers the tools they need instantly.
  • Help Centre – With an advanced search and easy-to-navigate FAQs, teachers can find solutions quickly.
  • Enhanced site search – From classroom projects to home-run activities and case studies, all content is discoverable in one place.
  • Dedicated news and case studies sections – Celebrating the achievements of schools, students, and educators while sharing best practice. Obtain the latest news of CREST easily.
  • Events section – A glance at what’s happening with CREST and what you can take part.
  • Engage community pages – A dedicated space for BSA’s Engage Teacher Network, with tailored content and recognisable branding.
  • Dynamic content carousels – Resources, testimonials, and inspiring stories are highlighted across pages to encourage deeper engagement.
  • Improved accessibility and branding – Enhanced design, colour contrast, child-friendly themes, and functionality tools create an inviting and inclusive experience for learners, and site is usable by all.

The upgraded CREST website reflects the BSA’s commitment of bringing more young people and science together, and improving young peoples’ experiences of science in their education. By providing educators with accessible, high-quality tools, the BSA empowers educators to bring STEM to life for young people across the UK and beyond.

Maria Rossini, Head of Education, British Science Association, said:

We know that teachers are at the heart of inspiring the next generation, and this new CREST website has been designed with them in mind. With more intuitive features, accessible resources, and inspiring content, the upgraded CREST website is not just a tool – it’s a catalyst for sparking curiosity, building confidence, and helping young people to realise their potential in STEM.

Funders and supporters will see this investment as a significant step BSA took towards broadening the reach and impact of CREST, making it easier than ever for school in diverse contexts to get involved.
