British Science Week 2015 runs from 13 - 22 March. It is a celebration of the best of British science, technology, engineering and maths.  It will feature thousands of fascinating, entertaining and engaging events across the UK.  In addition to school-based activities, there are events for adults and family audiences taking place in community spaces, cultural institutions and surprising places – in pubs to theatres to sports venues.  

Over 2,000 events have been registered - from community activities to national campaigns - so thank you to all of our event organisers who are so crucial to the success of this truly national celebration of science.

Wherever you are, whatever your background or interest in science, there will be something fun and interesting for you to get involved in...

If you are in a school, college, STEM club or other youth education setting - opportunities include:

• Demo Day – teachers and technicians can make a pledge to run a Demo with your class on Thursday 19 March – put your school on the map and be in with the chance to win prizes! 

• School poster competition – the theme this year is science on your doorstep; help students get creative by exploring the science all around them

• Edible Eclipses – try this activity in time for the Solar Eclipse on Friday 20 March

For everyone else 

• Participate in an important online citizen science project with Zooniverse and the Medical Research Council: Worm Watch Lab - where you will be helping scientists from Imperial College London classify nematode worms by watching short video clips of them laying eggs!

• Or, if you like the great outdoors, why not help the Woodland Trust's Nature's Calendar track the speed and progress of Spring as it sweeps across the UK.

• Attend one of our flagship policy debates - in London, Manchester and Cambridge - on antibiotics, Ebola and population growth respectively

• Flex your brain at ProblemAttic

• Contact your nearest branch to see what they are up to, or search our online events database for events near you

• Take the opportunity to go Behind the Scenes of British Science and find out more about what goes on in factories, plants, laboratories and other surprising places

• Watch out for science buskers in train stations, or just make a cup of tea... (We're asking people to tell us their preferred tea-making-method and will be offering prizes and giveaways during the Week for people who share their #perfectcuppa on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook.)
